Carl E. Sandstrom was born on July 22, 1867 in Sweden. When only a boy of 14, he went to work in a sawmill sorting and grading lumber. With ambition to better his position in the world, Carl attended night school at the Manual Training School in Avesta, Sweden, there learning the trade of carpenter and builder, at which he worked until coming to the United States in 1888. He only had eleven dollars to his name when he arrived in Ogden, UT, but he quickly gained employment in carpentry, and continued on for many years. He founded Sandstrom Architecture, which continues on due to Carl's skill, integrity, and workmanship.
